ASBG presents Part 2, a Workshop on Waste Contaminated Soils
This webinar workshop complements our NSW Contaminated Soils Waste Webinar Part 1: moving into details on sampling, analysis and
preparation of Waste Classification Reports or applications which satisfies the EPA. It also covers the availability of landfills to
accept certain contaminated soils with a focus on asbestos waste and where they can be disposed of, noting that future landfill
capacity around Sydney will be increasingly constrained over the next 5 years. The workshop is run over 2 x 1 hour sessions and will cover the following areas:
- Introduction
- Landfill Disposal Application:
- Sampling of contaminated soils for classification for landfill disposal
- What to test for under Waste Classification Guidelines Part 1 and documentation
- Review of the Sapling Design Part 1 - Application Contaminated Land Guidelines for soils and wastes
- Overview on sampling requirements to achieve EPA acceptable 95%UCL
- Preparation of Waste Classification Reports
- Resource Recovery Application:
- Sampling of contaminated soils for Resource Recovery Orders (RRO) and Exemptions use
- Examples of 3 RROs to provide guidance
- Other options: i.e. use as daily landfill cover
- Documentation requirements
- Asbestos waste capacity issues in the Sydney area
- Capacity issues for disposal of contaminated soils in the Sydney area over the next 5+ years and options
- Summary
