This is a practical half-day introductory workshop designed to get participants up to speed on Australia's current dangerous goods laws covering:

  • Storage and handling of dangerous goods
  • All 9 Classes of DGs, packaging groups and labeling
  • Basic uses of separation distances, bunding, incompatibility and other control measures
  • Changes contained in the 7th edition of the Australia Dangerous Goods Code.
  • Requirement to undertake risk assessments according to the OH&S regulations and Code of Practice
  • The three threshold levels for risk assessment, placarding and notification
  • Other legislative requirements, such as notification to the Fire Brigades.
  • Workshopped case studies on risk assessment and a fictitious site
  • Use of Australian Standards, eg AS 1940, AS 3780, AS 1596 etc.
