8 May 2018 - Sydney
The proposed Remediation of Land SEPP is a key focus of this seminar as it contains a tightening of the triggers for Cat 1 remediation works; those requiring Development Approvals. The SEPP 55 replacement proposes to use Certified Contaminated Site Practitioners as the assessors in determining if a site remediation triggers a Cat 1 or a Cat 2 classification and validate Cat 2 was done correctly. The proposed SEPP and Contaminated Land Guidelines are a work in progress and many of the issues raised and discussed at the seminar should assist in improving from the draft.
Also discussed are the ongoing emerging pollutants of PFAS and asbestos and the issues they bring to contaminated land management. The National Environment Management Plan on PFASs will be discussed and what its implications mean for contaminated site investigations and remediation works.
